Time to Start: 9–12 Months Out
You’ve booked the venue, you’ve pinned about a thousand gowns to your Pinterest board, and now it’s time to make it official. We always recommend starting your dress shopping journey 9 to 12 months before your wedding date. Why? Because designer gowns often take 4–6 months to arrive once ordered - and that doesn’t include time for alterations!
Starting early gives you a relaxed timeline and the freedom to explore different styles without any pressure. Whether you’re drawn to clean, modern wedding dresses or dramatic ball gowns, this is your moment to shine. And don’t worry, we’ll help you every step of the way!

6–8 Months Out
Once your wedding dress is ordered, the anticipation starts. This is a great time to schedule check-ins with your stylist, start thinking about undergarments and shoes, and make sure you’re ready for fittings once the gown arrives. You’ll also want to plan for any customizations, like adding sleeves or adjusting the neckline.

4–5 Months Out
While you’re still glowing from finding the dress, it’s also a smart time to think about the finishing touches. Accessories play a huge role in bringing your bridal vision together, and we recommend shopping for them around the time you purchase your dress - or at the latest, four to five months before the big day.
From veils and headpieces to statement earrings and shoes, seeing the full look together ensures everything feels cohesive and true to you. Plus, just like your dress, some accessories may need to be ordered or customized, so giving yourself some lead time pays off.

2–3 Months Out
Once your dress arrives, the real magic begins. We recommend starting your alterations at least 2-3 months before the wedding. This gives your seamstress plenty of time to perfect the fit and make any necessary adjustments. Depending on the complexity of your dress and how many fittings are required, this process could take several weeks.
Pro tip: Bring your shoes and accessories to your fittings so your seamstress can tailor everything to the full look!

1–2 Weeks Out
About one to two weeks before the wedding, you’ll have your final fitting and pick up your gown. Be sure to bring someone with you who will be helping you get dressed on the big day. This is the perfect time to go over any bustling or buttoning techniques.
Also, take a deep breath. You’re ready!
